Listening and Talking with Interested Parties

GLP has dedicated many years to talking with and listening to most of the interested parties. GLP is also trying to promote discussion on alternate futures for the Latrobe Valley after brown coal mining ceases. We have heard different ideas on what that future might be, most of which have come from individuals.

Position Statements

We acknowledge that there are still important unknowns associated with rehabilitation that are being worked through. This includes public input during the upcoming Hazelwood Environmental Effects Statement (EES) and subsequent public hearings. We have developed position statements for some of the more controversial aspects such as use of water in mine rehabilitation and will be making submissions on matters of relevance.

Strategic Advantages

Identifying strategic advantages that the Latrobe Valley has that could be exploited to diversify our economy and help to recover some of the lost economic activity and wages that we are about to suffer.
