GLP’S
Purpose, Vision and Mission

Purpose

GLP acknowledges the Victorian State Government requirements of mine land owners that on cessation of mining, mine lands must be safe, stable and sustainable to discharge their legal rehabilitation obligations.

The purpose of GLP’s existence is due to its:

  • Belief that the Victorian State Government requirements for rehabilitation are inadequate for the long term repurposing of the mine lands.

  • Belief that long term repurposing of mine lands also needs to be:

    • Visually attractive.

    • Economically useful.

  • Concern regarding the extent of use of water resources for rehabilitation.

Vision

GLP vision is that mine lands positively contribute to the LCC LGA with the following characteristics being:

  • Visually attractive.

  • Welcoming, healthy and safe living environment.

  • Community values and connectiveness.

  • Diversified economy.

Mission

GLP advocates for planning and implementation measures that will contribute to GLP’s Vision.

GLP’s preference is for the:

  • Development of a prioritised coordinated actionable plan that delivers the Vision for the LCC community including:

    • Leveraging existing infrastructure for community and business benefit.

    • Progressive relinquishment of mine lands.

  • Management structure to efficiently and effectively deliver the plan.

  • Process to monitor the delivery of the plan.
