Rob Gaulton

Retired Geologist

A long standing member of GLP , Dr Rob Gaulton was for 25 years employed as the principal on site geologist at the State Electricity Commission of Victorias Latrobe Valley mining operations, providing advice on coal quality, coal stratigraphy, aquifer dewatering, slope stability, emission controls, environmental considerations, future planning and drilling. As such, he has an extensive knowledge of the coal deposits and the many inherent factors and influences that continue to apply.  

A resident of the Latrobe Valley since 1972, Rob has been engaged as a leading volunteer in a wide range of community based activities. These include secondary education, sport and recreation, young offenders, prisoner welfare, personal development, engagement with local government, preservation of local and technological history, intellectual disability services, effective leadership, supply of water and sewerage services, local government interface and environmental concerns. He has served and continues to serve on numerous committees and Boards of Management and is committed to ensuring the Latrobe region can and will transition successfully from mining and power generation, in the process developing  a new economy and a bright future.
